Barbie – The icon

Who doesn’t know Barbie? You can have endless discussions about the value of this puppet in kids education – but at least it was, is and will be part of many many childhoods. I only had one Barbie puppet. I was playing outside most of the time and Barbie puppets with their long hair weren’t really made for getting in contact with the „real world“.

But I had a lot of friends with not only one but many, many Barbies and of course they were owning also all the respective accessories as well. Horses, cars, houses, airplanes, camper and…Kens. Just what you need in life to be a happy Barbie.

So when I heard about the Barbie exhibition in Milan I was more than curious to see how you can fill a whole exhibition with the life of this puppet. Well you can and it was quite interesting. Especially to see how Barbie developed during the year. Of course fashion wise but also considering her face expressions and body shape.

At the Fashion Hotel

Imagine an entire Hotel dedicated to fashion for a weekend. Pop-up stores moving into the Hotel rooms, showers converted to fitting rooms, the reception transformed into a bar and, in the lobby, fashionistas dancing to hip-hop beats.

This is exactly what happens twice a year at the 25hours Hotel in Zurich. So, for the autumn edition of the fashion Hotel, I grabbed my camera and my friend Jagna, and the three of us checked-in at the fashion Hotel for an evening of fashion, drinks, music and of course… shopping.

The evening started off with a small fashion show presenting some nice selections of local designer and shop items just to give you a teaser of what is waiting for you in the shops upstairs.

And truly inspired by that, we started our tour at room number 17 on the first floor. Also other girls were curious about what was waiting behind the different hotel rooms and were sneaking like we did.

In some rooms balloons with vouchers were awaiting us…

In others people just went bananas for all the beautiful things to buy…

The best thing were the transformed bathrooms. Best places for some selfies…

After  3 floors, 75 (!!!) little stores, some shopping and a many photo shootings we felt into the seats in the lobby to relax for a moment and to have a bite. Just to finish of the evening just a few minutes later with some dancing.

And to discover its magic, you need to stay overnight in the village itself.

The yellow dress – Part 01

Never wear a yellow dress when you have blonde hair.

I loved that dress at first sight but being blonde I didn`t risk a second glance as immediately awful pictures of horrible yellow/blonde combinations came to my mind.
But luckily there was my mum with me and together with two very engaged saleswomen they at least convinced me to try it on.   Read more
